Forevermore

By Mimi Herrmann

Did you think I was crying?
It was only your sunshine in my eyes
I didn't mistake what you meant to say
A chapter of our continuing story
I was dreaming of moonlight
In a moment of wild surmise
Don't think I'll forget the beauty of today
Or confuse your power with a need for glory

Don't name the well from which we can't drink
Don't tell me that love's not worth fighting for
Don't say never
And don't teach me what to think
And we'll both find Forevermore.

Do I know what I'm doing?
I just want to live as best I can
Sometimes lost in confusion
Or blinded by the rain
We must trust that we're choosing
For the glory of god and man
The solid truth of profession
Despite fear, or doubt, or pain

Don't name the well from which we can't drink
Don't tell me that love's not worth fighting for
Don't say never
And don't tell me not to think
And we'll both find Forevermore.

Each day means climbing toward the light
Each night means dreaming of our hope
Each dawn a testament of faith
Each step comes closer to everything we believe in

Did you hear what I'm saying?
Just forget what you thought you knew
Don't think you can lose love so easily
We're both the authors of this story
I was dreaming of sunshine
And a meadow drenched with dew
We'll always have the beauty of today
And tomorrow's pain and glory

There is no well from which we can't drink
We know that love's worth fighting for
So don't say never
And don't tell me how to think
And we'll both find Forevermore.
